I saw you gently wake your teenage son before you left for work today
You then hugged him and told him to have a great day, just like you did yesterday, and also the day before that
Then you drove to work and I touched you ever so lightly
I watched that smile gradually light up your face
Yes, you have once again begun to hug your children and openly tell them you love them
I had to point it out, you hadn’t even noticed yet
How natural sharing love comes to you now, just as it had so many years ago
And then you laughed out loud as you remembered that Facebook thread your sons had posted last night. One saying he could play drums better than the other which has somehow lead to a dirt bike challenge. For the first time in years, your children are getting along.
Because you have shown them what unconditional love and grace truly are.
You wondered how you could ever repair such a damaged family, but you have already found that answer.
Today you needed to know that you have every reason to smile, and I needed you to know that I am smiling with you.
So let me just say it again, it’s God here…I love you, have a great day!
1 Chorinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
