The Simplest Of Words

Black Cloud

Sometimes the simplest of words

Hang

Suspended

The air

Thick

Suffocating

A year of your life passes you by

With one sentence

Everything around you

Grey

Muted

As if in a cloud

The voices speak

But they have no value

No meaning

“I’m sorry, can you repeat that?”

But it is of no use

Their words form sentences

Made into paragraphs

Filled with useless information

All so meaningless

Biopsy

Cancer

2 words tattooed behind my eyes

Embedded in my mind

Flowing through my bloodstream

“I’m sorry, I just don’t understand”

And I don’t
