Listening for communication

Listening for communication

So much communication is found in listening

Observing

And just being open to processing what is being said

Yet, we miss this piece

We listen to respond

It is indeed a gift when we do take that step back and allow our minds time to process all the cues

When we listen and observe for the communication

And when we do…. a connection forms

And after several of those a relationship

Embracing your identity

Embracing your identity

People open up to me

Perhaps it’s due to the fact that I try not to judge

Perhaps, it’s that I lean in and simply listen

Engage

Where we come from, should not define what we are capable of

But if we allow it to, it can beautifully showcase our scars

I remember going on a date a few months ago

It was a second date

He was a bit more than nervous as he looked at me and told me there was something he’d like to share with me

I settled down into a comfy chair in my living room

“I’m a recovering meth addict” the words spilled out like a child confessing to their father and awaiting the wrath

“Thank you for sharing that with me, I appreciate it” I smiled quietly back at him

“Wow. I did not expect you to respond that way” the look of relief on his face told me so many things

Acceptance. Worth. Acknowledgment.

He felt like a human.

A real one.

And I thought to myself, are we not all real humans?

And how many lives could we change by simply treating others like a human?
